CWG Choices Ltd re-opened aluminium door and window manufacturing as of 27th April 2020 and slowly re-introduce further operations with skeleton crews
At CWG we closed our manufacturing and distribution operations on the 27th March 2020 in the wake of the Corona Virus Crisis, in the best interests of our employees, the national effort and our customers.
More than 4 weeks has passed since the current social distancing measures were introduced and we have been in correspondance with both our supply chain and our valued customer partners. We have also been watching and reading all information possible from not only our Government and Public Health England, but also industry bodies such as the GGF, Fensa and CERTAS.
At CWG we are in receipt of a letter dated 8th April 2020, from the Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy, The Rt Hon Alok Sharma MP, who states;
‘…our country needs your support to keep supply chains moving, as well as to protect the economy as much as possible. Every business has a role to play in helping the country defeat coronavirus.
Manufacturing is a critical part of our economy and I would like to be clear that there is no restriction on manufacturing continuing under the current rules. Guidelines from Public Health England provide best practice advice on how this can be done safely.
Those who cannot work from home and have to travel to work can continue to do so, consistent with the Chief Medical Officer’s advice. I would remind both you and your employers that good practice on hand-washing and social distancing where possible remains an important part of efforts to keep COVID-19 from spreading, as explained in the latest guidance on operating safely in the workplace. Further Government guidance is available on GOV.UK.’
We have considered all the guidance carefully as well as the livelihoods of many of our customers. We have completed a return to work Risk Assessment in accordance with the guidance from Public Health England and identified all measures possible to protect our employees.
On balance, we have decided to begin manufacturing and distributing Aluminium Window and Door products with a skeleton crew from Monday 27th April 2020.
We will do this to support our customers and the UK economy as a whole, but also we will do so safely. We will start with a skeleton crew to ensure that we can control the measures we have in place to prevent the introduction/spread of the virus in the workplace.
CWG Choices will look to reintroduce PVC manufacturing operations with a skelton crew as soon as we are comfortable with our aluminium working practice and we have the need from our customers. We will communicate further when the start dates for PVC window and door product manufacturing are firm.
Throughout, CWG Choices have continued to process orders and enquiries safely from a home working environment to support our valuable customers. All orders have been processed with an expected date which will be confirmed. This has been important within our downward supply chain not only for all our customers but, in particular our customers who support critical services such as NHS and care facility operations.
Thank you, to all our customers and partners for their support in what continue to be very difficult times for us all. We continue to be by your side throughout this crisis.
